Antalya – Cosmopolitan Turkey

Antalya is known as one of the cosmopolitan cities of Turkey. It is on the Mediterranean coast and has the towns of Belek, Kemer and Alanya included in its province. Antalya  is the hub of the area and has something for everyone including bars, restaurants, boutiques and nightclubs.

Even though Antalya is classed as a modern city, it is not hard to spot the old town and there are historical monuments, houses and tell-tale signs everywhere from years gone by.The current population of Antalya is just over 1 million and a majority of this population takes part in tourism and international business.

During the year Antalya also finds itself playing host to a number of festivals including film, music. opera, ballet and sports. A number of famous Turkish people are also known to have originated from Antalya including Burak Yilmaz, Deniz Seki and Onat Kutlar.

In 2007 Antalya airport hit a record when the number of people arriving on international flights outnumbered that of the Istanbul airports. The airport serves people wishing to travel to the resorts of Kemer, Belek, Side and Alanya and is open throughout the winter months as well. Have you been to Antalya or are you planning a visit?
